A new puzzle site called Puzzmo opened submissions today for users to submit a crossword puzzle idea as long as they’ve never previously been paid for a crossword. I’ve been playing on the site since its early access/beta period and their crossword style is really fun – there’s a lot more freedom in words and clues compared to the NYT style guide.
This is something I made and then decided not to submit – it was my first idea, my first time trying to plot the puzzle at all, and my first time using CrossFire, so I had to start over multiple times just to get things working and make sense of the software. It feels like over-worked dough at this point that I can’t keep touching and I’m still not super happy with it, so for a contest where I only have one entry I didn’t want to send it in. I do still really enjoy the key phrases I started it with, though, and I think it’s fun.
If I had a better idea, I’d probably change the title to something more relating to networks – it’s very lightly themed (the two longest Across entries, primarily). The puzzle image is below, and if you play with software that allows you to run .puz files and would like the file instead, shoot me an email or leave a comment and I’m happy to send it to you.
